The curtain rises on Thursday 24 June with “Yesterday” (116’), a 2019 British film that follows the rise of the Beatles through the story of Jack, a young struggling musician. After a global power outage, and a bicycle accident, Jack wakes up in a world where he is the only one to know of the existence of the Beatles, let alone their songs! The film features Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Ed Sheeran.


American computer-animated comedy “Moana” (107’) comes next, on Thursday 29 July. The film’s protagonist is Moana, a young girl that sets sail in search of the famed islands of Oceania in order to prove her wayfinding skills and restore her people as voyageurs. During her journey, she meets the demigod hero Maui. The film is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker in a screenplay by Jared Bush.


“Il Postino” (108’), the nostalgic 1994 Italian film starring Massimo Troisi, is scheduled for screening on Thursday 5 August. In a small fishing village of postwar Italy, the postman Mario befriends communist poet Pablo Neruda, exiled from Chile for his politics. Their improbable friendship grows stronger when Mario enlists the help of the famous intellectual in order to win the heart of the beautiful Beatrice. The film is directed by Michael Radford.


Under the sound of Cuban music from Wim Wenders’ documentary film Buena Vista Social Club” (1999), the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation wraps up its round of summer screenings. Wenders follows an ensemble of veteran musicians brought together by Ry Cooder in order to travel outside Cuba for the first time to perform in Europe and America.


All screenings start at 21:00. Entrance doors open at 20:30.

On the nights of Faneromeni21 events, the museums and exhibitions of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation will be open until midnight.
