The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) is the framework of European Union (EU) legislation setting the requirements regarding the way investment services are provided across the European Economic Area, including the requirement to provide clients with information on the way in which services are provided.  MiFID was applied in Cyprus from November 2007.

MiFID II will apply from the 3rd of January 2018.  This new legislative framework will strengthen investor protection and improve the functioning of financial markets making them more efficient, resilient and transparent.
